Movies vs Books

I find that most movies made after a book really let me down, they just don't capture the characters in the book like I wish they would.   I do however really like most of the Harry Potter movies and I also like the books.
The movie Tuck Everlasting is MUCH different than the book and has a totally different ending, for that reason I am not a big fan of the movie.
Let's make this a blog about comparing movies and books of the same title.  Please tell us the name of the movie / book and tell us which one you liked more and why?  Of course other people are encouraged to write back to you and offer opinions about your choice in a RESPECTFUL way.
   Have fun!

Anyway. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I read the book, and enjoyed it, but the movie had a COMPLETELY different plot, with the only theme in common being food falling from the sky. The movie was much longer and had a more complicated plot, but the book had a sort of heartwarming ring to it. In all, I prefer books.

I have read this book called Lightning Thief and compared to the movie. The movie is way longer and also the movie adds details that is not in the book.I think the movie that I watched does capture the characters.I like the movie because it can give me a picture in my head.

  3. i started reading this book made after a movie and it was a really bad book. it was called "Sabrina the teenage witch". i knew it was made by the movie because i had already seen the movie and the book had a picture of some of the main characters.

  4. I read the book The Lightning Thief after I saw the movie and i thought that the book was better because in the movie they left out some parts and when i read the book they added so much more details.

  27. I keep waiting for the book Hatchet to be turned into a movie, I think it's such a great book by Gary Paulson and if it was to be made into a movie I would see it in a heart beat.
-Now that I think about it some more, the Lord of the Rings books (there are 3 of them) are some of my favorite books of all time and the movie are great in my opinion as well. They really stay true to what the books are all about and don't change too many things at all.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm sorry Mr. Janow but i didn't really like the book Hatchet. I mean it was good but not one of my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mr. Janow, what it never gets turned into a movie??? maybe if it does get turned into a movie i hope it would be as good as the book. i never read Hatchet but i hope its as good as you say it is.

    ReplyDelete
  30. To tell you the truth if Hatchet comes out as a movie i think the movie would be better.

  35. Even though this book isn't a sixth grade level, I still loved Mr. Popper's Penguins, but was really let down with the movie because it was just like totally different

  38. i usually like the book better than the movie but in cloudy with a chance if meatballs i like the movie better because more happened in it. i liked the book the lightning thief better than the movie because everything was totally different. i think that if the book is long than they have to cut out a lot of things so the movie isn't that long but they take out the best parts in my opinoin

  53. I liked Charley and the Chocolate Factory/Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory the movie more than the book. I felt the suspense more when I watched the movie, and I found it kind of hard to imagine the characters in the book.
In general, I like reading books more than watching movies. I like the way you can picture the scene in your mind, and see how the characters look. Sometimes I like to watch the movie afterward, though, just to see someone else's opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  54. i like charlie and the chocolate factory movie better because when the oopaloopas sing they give you more of an image.

  58. I read a book called To Kill a Mocking Bird. I like the book better because you can get a better picture of the story. Also, in the movie, it started in the middle of the book and even had some added scenes which were not in the book. Frankly, I like the book better.

    ReplyDelete
  59. are people still on?

    ReplyDelete
  60. at Bowen we read Because of Winn Dixie in 4th grade.we watched the movie after the book.
the movie and book were different, but generally they were alike. its hard to say weather i liked the movie or the book better. i guess our opinions also depend on weather you read the book or see the movie first.

  96. I read the Blind Side and then watched the movie. The book and movie is about a homeless boy who is adopted to later become a football star. I liked the movie better because I thought I was more serious and I thought the book made the story sound like a fairy tale. That why I like The movie The Blind Side better then the book.
